The questions people actually ask.
Including the sceptical ones. Especially the sceptical ones.
Is this legit?
Another AI surf app?
The prediction engine isn't AI and doesn't need it — it runs on your device, offline, with no model involved. The optional Seer is a chat layer on top, running on your own API key. If AI apps make you tired, turn it off and nothing breaks.
Why should I trust your numbers?
Don't, yet. Read the call ledger instead — dated calls published the night before, graded the next morning by rules we wrote down first, misses left up. Judge the record.
Who's behind it?
A small independent team, not a media company with a forecast attached. Contact details are on the support page and there's a human at the end of in-app support.
Is my break covered?
You add your own breaks rather than picking from a list, so coverage isn't the limit — calibration is. A new spot works immediately and sharpens as sessions get logged against it, and the app tells you which state it's in.
How it works for you
Do I need to log sessions for it to be useful?
No. It predicts from day one. Logging is what makes it sharpen at your particular break, and it takes about twenty seconds.
Does it work without signal?
Yes. Predictions compute on-device from cached data. A car park with one bar still gets you a read.
Will it tell everyone about my break?
No. There's no feed, no sharing, no spot directory. Your spots are yours and they stay that way.
What about my mate's local knowledge?
Put it in. Tide, wind tolerance, the swell direction that switches it on — that's exactly what the spot compass is for. We're capturing local knowledge, not claiming to replace it.
Money and keys
What does it cost?
Seven days free with one spot on every new account. After that, Standard at 10 spots or Max at 30. Numbers are confirmed at launch.
Do I pay for the AI?
No. The Seer runs on your own key with your chosen provider, so there's no inflated subscription covering somebody else's inference bill.
Is bringing my own key hard?
It's paste-a-key hard, and it's optional. You get your first prediction before the app ever mentions it.
What happens when the trial ends?
Spot access gates and you get a clear upgrade path. Nothing is deleted — your account and session history stay put.
The awkward ones
What if it's wrong?
It will be, sometimes. Every forecast is. That's why the ledger publishes misses and why the app shows you predicted-versus-actual on your own sessions rather than quietly moving on.
Should I use this to decide if it's safe?
No. Predictions are guidance, not guarantees. Surf within your ability, know your break, and make your own call standing in front of the water.
Are you going to sell my data?
No. We don't sell personal information and we don't build advertising profiles. The privacy policy spells out what's collected and why.
When does it launch?
iOS and Android, soon. We're not announcing a date we can't hold.
