About SurfSeer
Is the prediction made by AI?
No. The prediction engine runs on your phone and doesn't use an AI model. The AI assistant is an optional extra that uses your own API key. You can use SurfSeer without it.
Why should I trust the predictions?
Check the forecast record: forecasts published the night before, checked the next morning with rules set in advance, with wrong results kept.
Who makes SurfSeer?
A small independent team. Contact details are on the support page, and a person reads every support message.
Does it cover my spot?
You add your own spots anywhere on the coast. Predictions work straight away and improve as you log sessions. The app shows how many sessions each spot's predictions are based on.
Using the app
Do I need to log sessions?
No. Predictions work from the first day. Logging sessions improves them for that spot, and takes about 20 seconds.
Does it work without a signal?
Yes. Predictions are calculated on your phone using saved forecast data.
Are my spots shared with anyone?
No. There is no feed, no sharing and no public spot directory. Your spots are private.
Can I add what I already know about a spot?
Yes. Add the tide, wind and swell direction a spot needs, and any hazards. SurfSeer uses them in every prediction for that spot.
Cost and API keys
How much does it cost?
Every new account gets a 7-day free trial with one spot. After that, Explorer is US$4.99 a month for 10 spots, and Pro is US$9.99 a month for 30 spots.
Do I pay for the AI?
Only if you use the AI assistant, and you pay your chosen provider directly. SurfSeer plans don't include AI costs.
Is adding an API key difficult?
You copy a key from your provider and paste it into Settings. It is optional, and the app works fully without it.
What happens when the trial ends?
Your spots are locked until you choose a plan. Nothing is deleted.
Limits and safety
What if a prediction is wrong?
Some predictions will be wrong, as with any forecast. The forecast record keeps every wrong result, and the app shows predicted and actual conditions for your own sessions.
Can I use it to decide whether it's safe to go in?
No. Predictions are estimates, not guarantees. Check the water yourself and only surf in conditions you can handle.
Do you sell my data?
No. We don't sell personal information or build advertising profiles. The privacy policy lists what we collect and why.
When is it available?
Soon, on iOS and Android. We will announce a date when it is confirmed.
